Preview: The X Factor Tour

the-x-factor-live-2007.jpgSo, the votes are in, the nation has voted and we now have a new X-Factor popstar wannabe in our midst. Did you watch it? Did you vote? Do you care?

I hate to admit it, but in between pre going out drinks and Saturday night Ray heckling, some evil guest sent a vote off via my phone. If there's one thing I refuse to do, it's voting for reality TV. My money means more to me than funding the next lunchtime (caviar stuffed) sarnie for balding TV execs.

So, the lovely Leona Lewis won out over chubby-cheeked Elvis wannabe Ray and the Mac-Godawful Brothers? Big surprise.

I watched most weeks as I made my way out the door, mostly because I love Sharon Osbourne and get a sick sense of enjoyment watching Simon Cowell tell hurtful musical truths while Louis Walsh raises his non-existent chin in mock indignation.

I'm not one of these people who bad mouth the contestants like they could do better. I couldn't and I know it. They'd send me away screaming "cat on a tin roof" and "too round for lycra!".

The difference is, I know I can't sing to save England and would never put myself or the country in that position. I heard a rumour that they pay for people to apply and embarrass themselves? Have you heard otherwise or are we really surrounded by so many tone deaf lunatics?

They say Leona is the next Mariah. Good luck to her, let's just hope she stays on the radar longer than Shayne pretty boy Ward. Oh, to be a young beautiful thing with legs to the ceiling and a voice of an angel. That's the thing with Leona Lewis. She's so damn sweet it takes the fun right out of b******. Let's hope she breaks free of the manufactured pop trap and wipes the ex X-Factor label right off her perfect face. You've got to admit, the girl can sing.

Her debut track 'A Moment Like This' has already cleared world dopwnload records and tomorrow's single release is bound to cause bigger line-ups than yesterday's Banksy poster release. Fans can catch the former East London girl in what the press is sure to label as a 'fairytale transformation'. All I can say is, thank gawd it wasn't Ray Quinn... get that lad to the West End and do it quick... 'Chipmunks the Musical' awaits.

If it's your thing, the X Factor Tour may be worth a look. Thank goodness they found a diamond in the out of tune rough. All things aside, based on past performances, Leona will shine.
