MYLO at Fabric - 12th January 2007
By Maria Bjornlund
I had never been to Fabric before, although I sure as hell have wanted to since I discovered Diplo's Fabriclive album. Made the decision moving to London a bit easier.
Anyone who has been there could imagine my difficulties actually finding all the three rooms (so bad I didn't), and I spent fifteen minutes or so looking before I ended up in room one. The whole evening was quite confusing come to think of it, as I wondered how in the world Mylo would be able to step on to the stage since there was a big crowd filling it up, I missed the beginning and didn't notice he was behind a booth under the balcony until he played Otto's Journey. Consider it a rookie mistake.
With an album such as "Destroy Rock & Roll" and a numerous remixes I easily figured out he has a good taste in music and is a talented remixer. So my expectations were granted, Mylo rocked that night. It's no wonder he's thought of as one of the heavyweight djs of the world.
Even though my evening was repeatedly interrupted by friends who were tired and wanted to go home early, tracks such as Bump (Spank Rock), Running Up That Hill (Kate Bush) and Drop the Pressure (by mr Maclnnes himself), meant that I stayed put and happy.
The one thing that bugs me is the constant choise of every DJ for putting on "Gossip - Standing In the Way of Control", including our man here. But other than that... I really like Myles Maclnnes.
