TAKE THAT - The Second Coming

There were five in the bed then the little one said "I'm going solo, I'm going solo..."
They're back... the band that wooed England and set teenage hearts aflutter have risen from their middle-aged pop hibernation and stepped around the shadow of Robbie William's solo career. While we all (okay, some) love Rob and wish him well during his stint in 'Rob-hab' there's no denying the annoying little warm fuzzy we feel when the Take That lads step out onto the stage.
To be honest, I never got into Take That. I missed the wave, or so to speak and spent my time bobbing about surfing smaller, rocky waves. They didn't and still don't put my knickers in a knot and I doubt they ever will, I'm jealous of the money they rake in and the corny doe-eyed looks they give the cameras make me chuckle. They're not cool in a rock star sense but even Liam and Noel Gallagher would have to admit, they fire out some catchy tunes.
Take That formed in Manchester in 1990 and sold 19 million records between the years of 1990-1996. You do the math... that's a hell of a lot of pocket money. The original line-up of Robbie Williams, Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Jason Orange and Mark Owen stormed the charts and hearts of the nation. Britain hadn't seen such manic fan adoration (or mass panting) since the Beatles reigned superior. Mums loved them, daughters wanted them, young lads wished they could score like them and fathers secretly sang along with them in the shower. "It Only Takes a Minute... la la la la".
They had high tea with Princess Diana and hung out with Britain's other precious princess, Elton John... one sugar or two? But, all fairytales must come to an end... especially when partying with the Gallaghers at Glasto is involved. Rebel Robbie went one way whilst a dumbstruck and saddened foursome went the other.
You'd think the story would end there... kids, massive scarves and haircuts can do wonders for people though and Take That are back on the circuit. They're not doing dodgy cameos (not many anyway) and they haven't been sucked into West End musical land. Nope, they've regrouped, tightened their vocal chords and lost a bit of extra puddin' (okay, so Gary is still a 'work in progress'). Even as someone who doesn't have a full appreciation for these national treasures, I can't deny the impressive nature of such a comeback.
After a tear-jerking performance at the Brit Awards (okay, so my Nanna cried) the lads announced brand new live dates for their Beautiful World Tour. With a Best British Single Award for 'Patience' on their shelf, a catchy second single 'Shine', and a No.1 album 'Beautiful World' in their back pockets, it looks like we'll be seeing a hell of a lot more puppy-dog eyed action throughout 2007.
Are you going? Were you a Take That fan? Are you still? Do you wish they'd never formed, let alone returned? How about a message for the boy? We want to hear from you... post your comments here.

I'm a guy and I love Take That! I guess you'd call me a 'closet TH fan'. It's good to be OUT. ;)
Rob will be fine... no need to worry til he does a Britney and shaves his noggin.

i'm so bored of all these re-formed 90's bands. they should all realise their 15 mins of fame is over, we enjoyed them, got the memories (and in some cases, the t-shirts!) and be done with it. they all look so desperate. with rumours of Spice Girl reunion too, the charts are like spending a night at School Disco!
they should all just stay in The Priory or go back to working in Somerfield.

I am a true Take That fan from the start and still am...I'm estatic that they are back and every time I hear or see them in concert or on tv they still give me goosebumps and more...I think they deserve all the success this time round aswell and hope it lasts for as long as they want it..Mark was my favourite and still is but Gary is so handsome as a man and well...just pure drop dead gorgeous...keep up the gorgeousness Gary as it's not just your wife that it pleases..Go on Take That and show them all how it's done...

It would have been nice to get tickets this time around for the NEC but, how come tickets all sold out in half an hour, who got these tickets because I got the engaged sound, please try later !!!
I have been offered inflated price tickets and its just not fair on the ordinary person, when you can bulk buy and make a profit I remember having to line up and first come first served

delighted their back, went last june, brilliant and also in 1995. can't express my disappointment at not getting tickets for this year, it's just not fair that people not fans buy tickets and sell them at higher value, true fans miss out again

as much as i am a fan of take that there is no way on earth i would bow down to the vultures that sell these tickets and pay such ridiculous amounts of money to see them live. i would love to take my two daughters to see them but for the price of the tickets we could go on a family holiday for a week! this ticket business needs serious sorting!!

I think Take That should ask all their fans on their tour each night " how many of you paid the face value for these tickets?" and see how many did? Not many I bet!!! Nearly all the geniune fans will have had to pay a fortune. Why can't the boys do like Kyle did and make it not possible to re-sell the tickets for more than the face value, then only the True Fans will get the tickets!!!!

I agree with the comments above - my friends and I all tried to get tickets spent all day on the phone - we all think Take that are FAB but will not pay the outrageous prices now being asked for the tickets on internet sites - something needs to be sorted so that genuine fans can get the tickets and that tickets cannot be resold for more than their face value. May be next time X
