Lily Allen gets a New Look

As the number 98 bus jolted its way down Oxford Street earlier this week, my normal homeward bound daydreams were interrupted by a commotion outside of New Look. The ordinarily hideous neon windows were covered with black screens and two lonely security guards stood out the front... waiting. But for what?
A bit of neck stretching revealed a flash of trainers and a few Lily Allen billboards. Of course, its the launch of Lily Allen's fashion range. Watch out folks, it's raining floral dresses and trainers...
The view was almost like a swift shot of Oxford Street deja-vu. I passed the Kate Moss fashion launch at TopShop a week before... the only difference was that Kate's range attracted hoards of fanatics, loads of paps and a half a day's wait to get through the doors. After a quick look at both ranges, I have to say I prefer Lily's. Funnily enough, my reasons aren't just fashion based - I just don't have the emaciated Kate Moss look about me. As far as shapes go - I'm a Lily all the way... only I wouldn't wear trainers with a dress If you paid me to. I wouldn't see over the bar! Luckily there are heels thrown in there too. It's wearable, it's girly... it'll fit us all - but will the music fans out there wear it?
The press has since launched alleged verbal 'attacks' made by Allen against Moss. You know what, at least the little pocket rocket opens her mouth to do more but pout. Good on them both, if I had the public limelight shining right between my eyes, I'd launch a range too. It'd be called the 'Spitafield Market versus Charity Shops mash-up'. Ideal for the bargain bin lovers out there.
So.. what's your take? Do you fancy being a Moss/Allen clothes horse? Do you think musicians should jump on the fashionista bandwagon? Who would you like to see design a range? Gwen has done it, Madonna did it... maybe Elton could give it a shot. Tell us what you think.

I would love to see Beth Ditto design a range for plus sizes - or at least model them. 'Big boned' mannequins in stretched blue spandex - at the front of TopShop's window displays - priceless!

i don't have a problem with stores doing these ranges. it does its job; gets excitement from the customers, great pr for the stores and then it disappears to appear soon after on ebay. we don't have to buy it, so why get so fraught up about it? i do think these musician ranges are somewhat questionable; at least when Stella, Karl, Viktor and Rolf et al did their ranges, you were getting cut prices designs directly from their catwalk styles. Madonna, Kate and Lily are no fashion designers; they may have style - but that is often down to their stylists - so perhaps they should be the one s that design these ranges.
there is talk of a H&M Prada line - now that would be something worth queuing for...
