Rosalie Deighton
21 Days: Echo Records/Chrysalis Group
Review by Peter Coulston
As acoustic singer/songwriters go, Rosalie Deighton is up there among the best, and a personal favourite of mine. Consequently, I was very happy to see and hear her again at the Troubadour last week and to enjoy many of the songs on this album performed live. Rosalie is very happy with this album, and rightly so, as it highlights the musical and lyrical quality of her work in a way that her previous albums did not.
The opening track Sing To Me, is my personal favourite, and prepares the listener for the collection of sad, acoustic masterpieces that are to follow. The mood continues until Where Do You Go (When You Dream)? which gives a look at the singers lighter side. It is difficult to pick the best tracks from an album of such quality, but I particularly enjoyed Pilgrim and Dont. The title track is darker and the final track, Second Best, is so good that you want to go back to the beginning and start all over again. I strongly recommend that you give this album a listen and defy you not to enjoy it.
