ANDREA CORR
Champagne From A Straw
Atlantic Records
Nice solo offering from the one time family band member, very catchy, commercial and good for dancing. The song has a latin feel to it with good use of brass, solo trumpet and a great hook. This will sell well given the airplay it deserves.
LEANN RIMES
Nothin Better To Do
Curb Records/London
I enjoyed this record a lot, with its dark bass line and country rock roots. As for it being a commercial success here in the UK, I am not so sure, as this is not what the mainstream radio stations are playing right now. It rocks along well, with solid vocals from Miss Rimes enhanced by some effective banjo and keys and a change of pace towards the end. If you like your country rock, dark and punchy, you will like this.
