Gwen Stefani releases her new single Now That You Got It on October 8th through Interscope Records.
The original version produced by hip hop producer Swizz Beatz has been remixed and now features Damian Junior Gong Marley. It is the fourth single to be taken from the multi platinum album The Sweet Escape.
Once you have heard the first few seconds of Now That You Got It, you could have just listened to the whole song. Now That You Got It sounds like a broken record jumping and stuttering and never quite managing to fully splutter to life.
Ive accepted that Gwen has completely changed direction in terms of musical genre and has done well, but this track seems to be running on empty. Although I do miss the sweaty, screaming, Gwen Stefani - plastered in red lipstick and not a designer label to be seen you have to respect the change that she has made. However, Now That You Got It offers us little - possibly a few jangling beats, a summery vibe and some horribly catchy vocals but not much else.
This is the initial reaction I have to most of Gwen Stefanis track but often, I have a turn around in opinion. Perhaps this song is a grower too? Maybe Im too much of a loyal No Doubt fan to release a fully, scathing review of Stefani. So hopefully, if I turn up the volume and drown out the vocals with the bass, it will be better?!
Undoubtedly, Now That You Got It will be easier on the ear when it is performed live. A charismatic, striking, Gwen will be able to redeem the song with looks alone, plus a dance routine and a sprinkle of Stefani magic.
