To celebrate the release of The Eagles' new single ‘How long’ (also available as a free download from Amazon NOW). We've got a few Eagles facts and figures for your reading pleasure.
You just can't mess with the best:
• The Eagles - Their Greatest Hits 1971 – 1975 is the best selling album of all time.
• The Eagles have sold over 120 million albums worldwide.
• They are the only artists in music history to have three albums that have sold more than 10 million: Their Greatest Hits 1971 – 1975, Hotel California and Greatest Hits 2.
• They have had five No. 1 US albums between 1975 and 1994.
• The 2005 Eagles ‘Farewell 1’ tour was ranked as the top – grossing tour of the year in July of 2005.
• Formed in the early 70s, they released their last studio record in 1979 and didn’t tour again until1994. As Glenn Frey said "For the record, we never broke up, we just took a 14-year vacation".
• In the intervening years each of the band members pursued successful separate careers.
• In 1994 the reunion tour spawned the live Hell Freezes Over album (named for Henley's recurring statement that the group would get back together when hell freezes over).
• 2007 sees the release of their first album of newly recorded material since 1979. The Long Road out of Eden is released on 29 October, preceded by the single How Long.
