HOT NEWS / COMPETITION: The Eagles

eagles_album.jpgThis competition is now closed. Congratulations to Vicky Laws... she nearly passed out by the sounds of things when we told her. Congratulations Vicky... and don't forget to send through a review of your special night when it's all over.

Imagine it, you’re at a pub quiz and it’s down to the very last question. You need to get it correct to win the bottle of dodgy champas. Your pride is riding on this… the quiz master clears his throat.

“What was the best selling album of all time?”

Yes, praise the musical lord above… this one is easy! It was Eagles - Their Greatest Hits 1971 – 1975. You win the quiz, down the champagne and spend the rest of the night toasting one of the most successful rock bands in history.

They are certainly a band with an impressive backlog and they won’t stop now. ‘How Long’ - the first single from the much anticipated new Eagles album Long Road Out Of Eden - is now available for free download exclusively on Amazon.co.uk. Yes, the guys are with the technological times.

The download, which is available in DRM-free format, is the first ever music download to be available on Amazon.co.uk. Julian Monaghan, Music Manager at Amazon.co.uk said:

“There is an incredible amount of anticipation surrounding the new album and ‘How Long’ will no doubt further whet the appetite of the huge number of Eagles fans across the UK’.

‘How Long’ is taken from ‘Long Road Out Of Eden’, Eagles’ first studio album for 28 years, which currently sits at number two in the Amazon.co.uk pre-order chart. It will be released on October 29th and is available on Amazon.co.uk priced £8.98.

A bargain? Eagles fans must surely think so. At least it’s easier to get your hands on the download than it is to snap up tickets for their exclusive one off concert at the Indigo2 at London’s O2 Arena. Current band members Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B Schmit will do what they do best to launch their new album ‘Long Road Out Of Eden’. The venue holds approximately 1500 people and tickets will not be on sale to the general public. Chances are, you won’t get a gig this intimate again…

We have a pair of tickets to give away to the monumental Eagles showcase. All you need to do for a chance to win is email us at competition@seatwave.com and tell us which Eagles song is your favourite and why. Don't forget to include your phone number so that we can contact you immediately! (This competition is now closed.)

The best of the entries will be posted on the site and the winner will be chosen on October 30th.

Good Luck!

One of my favourite tracks has to be 'How Long' The reason being I have just met up with an old boyfriend from 35years ago! and found out we are both Eagles fans, amazing! It would be a dream come true top take him to the gig.

Hotel California; my daughter was away at univerity in Kyushu in Southern Japan for a year and on our first night to see har after a long time we went to a karaoke bar and there she was! we did not remember her as having a singing voice but she did the Eagles proud!

My favourite Eagles song? Lyin' Eyes. Why? Because in 32 years since it's release I've never gotten tired of listening to it. When those harmonies kick in it just makes me feel good deep inside. It’s time for The Eagles to “spread their wings” and it’s up to the rest of us to “fly” with them. And I’d certainly be flying for the rest of my life if I were lucky enough to win tickets to see them at such close quarters!

So many fab songs, so many lyrics which stay in my head but if pushed.... "Take it to the Limit" - would absolutely love to see them take it to the limit one more time!

Favourite song? Tough question, but I'll have to go with Dirty Laundry, because they deliver the song so well, audiences Love it, and because it's a great commentary on news media & television. I'd much rather hear news from the radio instead of tv, any day of the week!

It has to be Desperado - becuase the lyrics of this song mean so much to me as they are so descriptive of a bad time in my life - that has gladly long since passed. But the song will always hold a special place in my heart

Being such a big fan of the Eagles and all of their great songs it is so hard to choose. I've grown up listening to the Eagles as my mum has been a fan of theirs since they first came out in the 1970s. If I really have to choose my best Eagles song then it has to be the fantastic legendary Hotel California. This is my all time favourite song. From its haunting lyrics to the beautiful guitar work of both Joe Walsh and Don Felder, finished of beautifully by Don Henleys' amazing and distinctive voice. This definately has to be one of the greatest songs ever recorded and it would be a dream come true if I could actually see them play this live.
