Does the world really need another pretty blonde with musical aspirations? Well, in a world of Spice Girls and head-shaving pop singers, a genuinely talented songstress is definitely what the Priory Park doctors ordered. From what we've seen of her, Duffy is a breath of fresh air. She has a voice that'll lift the kneecaps from their sockets and spiral your eardrums into overdrive.
Radio 1 DJ Jo Wiley picked Duffy's debut single 'Rockferry' as her Pet Sound this week (for all you Wogan followers, that means it's GOOD). It looks like this little Welsh lass is set to hand around for awhile yet. She's now recording her debut album with Bernard Butler in London. David McAlmont is lending a hand with some backing vocals.
Anyway, who are we to say what's hot and what's not? Check out the video of Duffy and Bernard recording the song 'Syrup & Honey'. Talk about a 'Backstage Pass'...
Rockferry is available to download from November l9th and released as a 2-track 7 vinyl on December 3rd on A&M.

I absolutely love old northern soul and merely assumed that it was dead and burried and that all I had to ever listen to was the old stuff. Mercy - what a track and if the song on this site is anything to go by then northern soul is definately back in the mainstream. How fantastic!!!!
Can't wait to have the album on in my car!!!

I'm 54 and lucky enough to have grown up in the sixties with great music - Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder etc - I'm still rockin' and I was just knocked out when I saw Duffy on Jools. She is so good it gave me goosebumps.
Good luck Duffy and don't let anyone change you!!

I long to hear Duffy cover "I'll take you there" which was originally released by the Staples Sisters. This song would be lifted by Bernard Bulter's guitar playing and Duffy will eluminate a song which is deeply routed in soul. I hope I live to hear this!

Saw Duffy on Sunday in Oxford, It took us four hours to get there but she was worth it. We had a fantastic night, her voice is truly amazing and i loved every song she sang. Its hard to believe but she is even better in real life so if you get the chance to go and see her i would highly recommend it. I cant wait to see her again, i'd travel anywhere, its worth it.

Been following Duffy since the autumn of 2007. Always new that with such raw talent and dynamic voice that this young lady would make it big. The album is astonishingly good. I have at last secured tickets for Wolverhampton on June 3rd. Cant wait (and I'm in my 50's!).

the most sensational talent ,equal to all the very best that is soul - I simply can't stop watching / listening to warwick avenue , it hits the spot like aretha's "angel" only could up till now - this girl is gonna set the world alight - and what a fab sound overall - the musicians' genius at touching the nerve with that unique very early soul sound - before it got " poppy "- it was a sound never bettered and now my kids can enjoy it all over again !!!! xx grateful

Thought Mercy was brilliant but Warwick Avenue is just amazing - sensational - want to hear it over again -it's not just her voice that's fantastic, it's the way she sings the lyrics -so believable and soulful

It's all been said before, so I can only reiterate, Duffy's the business. She has a beautiful, soulful voice. I love the video of Warwick Avenue. It's simple, but powerfully emotive.
Looking forward to hearing more of Duffy in the future.
You go girl!

Will Duffy be doing anymore Sheffield Dates in the near future? Would she consider doing her version of "I'm your Puppet" orginally done by James & Bobby Purify. One final thing Duffy you need to record the next James Bond theme.

i am loving the album rockyferry, duffy is well talented where has she been hiding. i have her album on my mp3 player, loving warwick avenue, duffy shows her emotional side as if something has happened in her life and she wants to share it with her fans. showing that you can be what ever you want to be such as a singer and just keep trying, keep it up duffy you rule.

Hi,
Just listened to the new album, was totally blown away. Like a few people here , I am a big northern fan and OMG R&B soul at its best, it may have that modern mix, but jesus, it makes the heart beat faster the feet start dancing and the memories of those soul nights all soul fans crave. They say soul is a drug and that you regulary need the fix, well I just had 6 months of fixes in one go. It is that good. Duffy good on ya girl and everyone who helped put this album together. If rver you make the trek to here in Belgium, there are more than 1 or 2 soul fans here. Keep the faith.

duffy, beautiful voice reminiscent of Ronnie Spectre. Drop dead gorgeous looks. Just bought rockferry and Damn! somebody give that girl some happy pills. Superb vocals but with the exception of mercy which is an excellent soul track, I thought the whole album depressive.
