It's three times platinum... yes, Nelly Furtado's single 'Do It' has done just that. The little song bird is no longer 'flying like a bird' - she's morphed into one saucy, sexy falcon! She's celebrating with the release of Loose: The Concert DVD on November 19th.
Okay, so we're getting a little over-excited - she's just a normal girl with a strange voice and friends in big places (hello Timbaland... welcome JT). The DVD includes extra features and a bonus CD (don't they all these days?). You can check out a clip right here, or if a verdict is what you're after - read on for ours.
Nelly Furtado
Loose: The Concert
Review by Taylor Wescoatt
Nellys onstage appearance was very Super-Diva (ala Madonna or Kylie) and quite in contrast to the persona she projects in her music IMHO, which is more of the girl-next-door simplicity and honesty. The dancers were few, over synchronised, and, while I would say they did their job, the choreography didnt seem to have a ton to do with what Nelly was singing about. Nelly herself didnt move about much at all, which was kind of disappointing, but then again, a close-up-camera view of a performance like that is probably pretty different to being there, like halfway back in the concert hall. Thats where I was for the Kylie show, and it still seemed like Kylie, (10 YEARS older, and having recovered from CANCER) moved around TONS more in Wembley than Nelly did playing to her own countrymen. Sigh dont mean to be a hater, but I dont think this was one of Nellys strong ones, and suggested that maybe she should do more grungy-lookin' venues with a little more soul to them than the pristine million steps and mirrors stage she had at this show.
The DVD was released in November... we've got a couple of copies to give away. Show our competition some love and enter here.
