Review by Holly Groom
NOFX's Southern Californian pop-punk has not changed. Its still brainless party music and they are still a brainless party band. Fat Mike (bass guitar/vocals) ambled onto stage alone, drunkenly confessing that he didn't know where the rest of the band were and that it didn't matter anyway as he was the one we were all there to see. Seconds later Erik (drums), Eric (guitar) and El Hefe (guitar)arrived and an argument broke out over who had done what drugs backstage and where the hell the drugs were now. It was like a scene from one of those shitty American college films. But one that was actually quite funny.
The band tore through (mostly) flawless renditions of the hits that have won them such a dedicated fan base and provided their usual impeccable standard of piss-taking banter between songs. A song was dedicated to 'these two punk chicks from Birmingham that we met... and they're real life LESBAINS!' It was mega high fives and much beer downing all around when the real life punk lesbians actually appeared, kissing and dancing at the side of the stage. As ever, the band combined just the right amount of faux American idiocy with their now legendary punk rock tunes and that is why they are still so loved by their fans. NOFX might be a brainless party band but their party still hasn't stopped being fun.
