Review by Emma Dalby

It was a particularly freezing cold November night in Camden and up and coming London rockers Slaves To Gravity were playing the home leg of their current UK tour.

The 4 piece looked fresh faced and enthusiastic to be playing in their home town and as it was still early days in the tour exhaustion obviously was a long way off yet. The band weren’t the only ones ready to play either. The venue was at least half full when STG came on stage and it was easy to see those watching were friends and followers. They were singing every word and dancing to the sexy Rock and Roll this band produce.

Judging by the crowd Slaves To Gravity seemingly appeal to the lovers of the smooth and sexy. The tight trousers, the big hair, the leather and all that comes with it. Their music also oozes with sex appeal, its dirty, skin-tight and clad with pure rock and roll aggression.

The most refreshing thing about them is that they don’t try and be anything other than what they are. They’re non pretentious on stage too, they simply play and people sing along, there’s no theatrics and no clichéd banter. Slaves To Gravity do not think they’re the best band in the UK like so many others, they do not come with an attitude and they really look like they’re enjoying what they play. Regardless of whether there were 10 or 100 people watching them.

The guys played a half hour set just long enough to squeeze in their album tracks and recent singles ‘Big Red’ to which they’ve just made their first video to and ‘Meantime’ the next single taken from the album. This definitely got the most out of the crowd and will definitely be something to watch out for in up and coming weeks.

If you ever go and see this band you’ll know they are playing from the heart, they are doing the only thing that is true to them and they are playing music together that they grew up with and love. It’s inspiring to watch a band that appear this dedicated and actually sound perfectly formed when playing live. I would go and see them again, just not when it’s so cold next time.
