November UK tour

To some people this music they call ‘indie’ was not in fact invented by legendary labels such as Factory, Rough Trade and Stiff in the wake of post punk in 1978 but in fact 2001/02 when a crop of hot new things hit the scene, The Libertines, The Strokes, White Stripes, The Vines and to a lesser extent, Interpol. In that order, these bands have; combusted under the spotlight and the singers heroin addiction, became crap, continued to be brilliant and weirder with each album, had a lead singer who went mental and with Interpol, they slowly but surely became a long term and brilliant proposition.

These dates in support of their top three album, 2007’s ‘Our love to admire’ have the suave men in black touring when their stock is at its highest. Not having to resort to OC endorsements, Interpol over three albums have become one of the finest bands in the world with the high quality of recorded moments and being equally as impressive live. 2002’s mood laden ‘Turn on the bright lights’ and 2004s pop album ‘Antic’s have been merged into one to show the best of both sides of Interpol with this years third.

With the current omnipresence of Joy Division– the film, the soundtrack, the book, the re-issues, the ringtones (!), even pair of “Unknown Pleasures” trainers were sneaked out recently. Not to mention their music being bizarrely used as incidental music during Liverpool FCs latest European cup football match and a revelatory program about the weirdness of Michael Jackson (yes, really) on Channel 5, The Killers dodgy pop cover of their classic ‘Shadowplay’ track to skinny ties and indie boys with side partings, 2007 has been the year of Joy Division which shows that Interpol’s wait was worth it being the only band who can truly be worthy of comparison with Joy Division and yes, I have considered Editors.

Bringing with them Blonde Redhead in support makes this tour an absolute must!
