The Big Chill Festival will take place from August 1st 3rd. The line-up is as hot as ever with the following confirmed acts:
The Mighty Boosh- one the most talked about comedy act of today will be there to give us a good laugh. They are a double act with a fantastical edge that will have you hooked within seconds.
Norman Jay, highly respected DJ, will be stirring things up along side Thievery Corporation, a DJ duo who fuse Dub and Acid Jazz with an alluring Brazilian sound.
The hotly tipped Portico Quartet - a funky instrumental band who merge a simmering Jazz style with shuddering bass lines and soaring saxophones - will also be making an appearance.
Random Dance, a cutting edge theatre company, will also be putting on a special selection of shows.
We headed to The Big Chill House last night for the Big Chill festival Warm up. The atmosphere was thick with excitement as guests were talked through the August line up and given a taster of what is to come over those balmy August evenings.
First up were the brilliant French Rock Pop duo, Priorité A Gauche.
Here's Kate Spiegelhalter, an excited Big Chill Festival goer had to say:
Priorité A Gauche are a pair of quintessential French singers, parodying English stereotypes with hilarious results. Were they for real? Were they a comedy act? Who knows? Who cares it worked!
Dressed head to toe in 'Paris' headbands, berets, and shirts proudly emblazoned with the red, white and blue of the republic ('Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité!), the noisy crowd gradually warmed to their songs and jokey quips.
What a pair of talented musicians a long way from home! I found myself turning into John Cleese on the tower, shouting "You silly English Kniiiights' over the heads of the crowd...I don't think I was the only one.
Priorité A Gauche certainly loosened the crowd for a set from Portico Quartet. Do what you will, sit and chill to the thumping Jazzy beats of the Portico Quartet or join everyone else up front jamming to their sizzling sound.
There seemed no better band to play at the Big Chill warmer as they exuded everything that the festival stands for; a cool vibe, laid back but funky, music that suits whatever mood you are in.
The Big Chill Festival Warm Up certainly took away my winter blues. Bring on August!
