The London Latin Music Festival
April 2nd - May 3rd
Its coming up to that time of year again when everything comes over all Latin - especially us. April and May will see in this years Latin Music festival with open arms. The line-up is as hot as a spicy chorizo and London will be its hungry host.
Over the years, The London Latin Festival has brought to our attention some of the funkiest Latin sounds and has also show cased some traditional Latin acts.
To kick start that lustrous Latin vibe, DJ Dolores and Aparelhagem are set to get the party started with their La Linea 08 Pre-Launch event at Cargo, their first UK show for 3 years.
Argentinian composer/pianist/arranger Lalo Schifrin who wrote Mission Impossible, Cool Hand Luke, Bullitt and many other memorable scores for film and TV, will also make a rare UK appearance fronting the eight nine piece London Symphony Orchestra. The night will merge Jazz meets the Symphony event.
Ska Cubano, with their charismatic front line, will put on their first London appearance of 2008. Bajofondo Tango Club return with a unique evening from the Tangopolis of Buenos Aires with special guest Daniel Melingo and band.
Mexicos premier Rock en Español exponents Café Tacuba make only their second appearance in the U.K. as do L.A.s Cumbia evangelists Very Be Careful. Paco Peña & Nishat Khan rekindle their Spirit and Passion 10 years after their first collaboration tracing the common roots of Flamenco and Indian music.
