Backstage Pass: Music fans unite... take a sneak peek at what goes on beyond the mosh pit.

COMPETITION: Win two tickets to the 2008 Indy Awards

indy.GIFIndy Awards 2008

We all love a bit of indie action once in a while. You can’t beat that spray-on skinny jean look, pointy shoes and a cheeky fringe can you?

Indie music is at its highest and finest at the moment with numerous bands tumbling onto the music scene looking like they have just spent the last month busking in Shoreditch.

Sometimes, The BRIT Awards and the other music ceremonies don’t include our favourite bands or the ones that we have seen in intimate venues and have been our top gigs of the year. The Indy Music Awards – note the play on words - kicked off last year and are back - bigger and better than ever- in 2008 to celebrate the hottest new emerging independent artists. The Buzzcocks and Starsailor will also perform. Plus, the almighty Mike Rutherford (Genesis/Mike and the Mechanics) will present an award.

Taking place in Kentish Town’s The Forum, The Indy Awards will dish awards out for Best Female Solo Act, Best Male Solo Act, Best Electronic Act, Best Heavy Metal Act and many more. They also give recognition to some of the most crucial things on the music scene: the fans and the venues.

We like the sound of it – we already have started the process of shrinking down to size to get those damn jeans on.

Want to be among some of the coolest people in the biz and catch a glimpse of some of the finest music acts around at the moment? Luckily for you, we have two Indy Awards passes up for grabs.
