Al Lewis
One Way Love Affair EP
By Peter Coulston
I have reviewed an album and a single by this artist over the last few months and have been as impressed with his recordings as I have with his live performances, which are always a pleasure. This is by far his most commercial recording to date and one that deserves a listen. Produced by Llion Robertson at Music Box Studios in Cardiff, it allows the songs to come alive through good use of guitars, rhythm while being sparing with the string sections. The balance is well judged and never sounds overproduced. In addition to the title track, which is light, melodic and very commercial, there are versions of All That I Came Here For and Ill Be The Moon which benefit from the same production style. These songs have good hooks and lyrics and could so easily be the songs that break this artist.
