GREGORYZ GIRL : Moving Mountains : itunes
Review by Peter Coulston
I reviewed this band in my Last Week In London column this week when they did their EP launch at the 12 Bar Club on Denmark Street. I had seen them once before and was impressed with the lead singers vocals, but now, they have come much more together as a band. The sound and songs are pretty commercial and there is a good musical rapport between the singer, Leah Gregory and lead guitarist Tom Burden. The principal songwriter is rhythm guitarist, Chris Guard, and this EP gives a good example of what they do. Leah is a strong, rock vocalist and Tom knows how to create appropriate solos, which round off the commercial tracks like the title and You Know Where You Are (With Me). All Along has a bit of Baltic about it while Real Eyes Now is more country rock. This is an excellent first effort from a band that could break through, so go to www.myspace.com/gregoryzgirl if you like good rock.
