The Fratellis
Look Out Sunshine
Review by Peter Coulston
There are a few things that are guaranteed to sell records; one is a strong melody line and another is sunshine in the title. This has both and is already getting lots of radio plays ahead of the release date next Monday. This kind of song is a classic format that defies time. Back in the thirties and forties, the dance bands of the day loved songs like this. In the fifties, Neil Sedaka, Paul Anka and Carole King knew how to write them and they were still around in the sixties and seventies, courtesy of Bowie, Roy Woods and Amen Corner. Its a format that cannot fail and I would not be surprised if it is their biggest hit to date. Pure commercial pop at its best. Listen to it, its infectious.
