Ladyhawke
Dusk Till Dawn
Review by Belle Piec
Here at the Seatwave HQ, we can't get enough of Ladyhawke's debut album. But, one of our reviewers was a little less than impressed with her new single, Dusk Till Dawn.
Dusk Till Dawn starts out promising but slides into a mishmash of flat 80s synth-italo-electro samples, while a tragic 90s teen girl layers her vocals over the top.
The chorus is catchy but the vocals fail to deliver any real dreamy space feeling like it should and the back beats behind the chorus 'doo doo doo's' are clunky.
It does have the essential 'cha cha' 80s key board clap in there, but it sounds like it was only added in as an after thought.
If the video needs reviewing, they've ripped off an 80s kids film called The Gate and added in some gooses in fake 80s tees.
I wish if these kids were going to tribute the 80s, they'd bloody get it right! However, saying that, it'll probably be a good hit on the dancefloor though, the kids will love it!
