Funeral for a Friend
Kicking and Screaming
Review by Shari Last
Kicking and Screaming kicks off with a Muse-like riff of pumping energy. You may think, Ooh, Im in for a treat. But hold your horses the singing hasnt started yet.
The second single from Funeral for a Friends fourth album is a bit too standard for my liking. Not helping this verdict is a quote from drummer Ryan Richards: Its basically a pop song played loud, hard and turned up to 11. Hmmm.
Despite the clichéd lyrics, the underlying tune has potential, and if you listen to it enough you might even find your head nodding along. But the way its mixed and finished is rather disappointing in its ordinariness. I thought they used to be a bit emo? After hearing this song, I bet all their stripe-wearing fans are likely to be dragged kicking and screaming to a Robbie Williams concert before downloading this track.
