Pretty Ricky
Pretty Ricky featuring Butta Creame - Cuddle up
As dated as a Craig David ballad circa when he sold records or that TLC song you thought was amazing at the time that has dated as well as Mickey Rourkes' face, this ear abuse is R 'n' B pap at its worst. It packs as much punch as a polyphonic ring-tone.
Think Cisco, think Blackstreet, think a rubbish copy of Usher's track 'Yeah' and you're in the right ball park. What was obviously intended to sound retro doesn't, it's bizarrely dated sounding and totally forgettable. Wow, is it the 90's revival already? When are Eternal reforming?
Honey Ryder
Fly Away
Guitar led pop in a sort of Texas style before their label told Sharleen Spiteri to go all 'Amy'on us. Overtly angsty radio friendly sub Sheryl Crowe nonsense....or James Blunt with breasts.
Hellsongs
Jump
This Swedish trio thought it would be good to make folky acoustic cover versions of heavy metal songs, hahahahhaha, funny too, eh. Unfortunately Nouvelle Vague exist for ironic cover versions in innapropriate styles and do it with slightly more charm. It almost sounds as though they went into the studio to record songs to get on The OC (or add a more relevant late teen American indie tv show here). What the world doesn't need right now is an inoffensive acoustic reading of Van Halen's 1984 hit; 'Jump', not now...not ever.
